Athletes – Do You Need to Be Sweat Tested?

The Windy City Bulls participated in sweat testing with the Gatorade Sports Science Institute as part of the NBA G League’s with Gatorade.  “Sweat Testing is important for athletes because everyone is unique and has different sweat rates.  Knowing what the values are allows you to customize your hydration plan to make sure you are adequately replacing what you are losing.”  Says Lisa Heating MS, RD, CSSD and Senior Scientist at GSSI.

It’s very important what athletes put into their bodies considering they have long days, tough practices and a lot of travel.  To be at your highest level, you must focus on what goes into your body.

Research shows that at only about 2 percent loss of body weight through sweat, performance begins to decline.
