Second Opinion

A second opinion is when a doctor other than your primary one reviews your medical chart and information to give you a diagnosis and treatment recommendation.  Second opinions are a way to learn from another doctor about your diagnosis and choices for treatment and surgery.  When the first doctor’s opinion is the same or similar to the second doctor’s, your confidence for treatment will be increased.

Some doctors are more conservative while others tend to be more aggressive.  It never hurts to get a second opinion for surgery. Keep in mind that doctors are human and they too can make mistakes or be faced with unusual or challenging cases.
